A fish a day keeps the doctor away

A fish a day keeps the doctor away

Most people, whether they are healthy or have cardiovascular disease (CVD), will benefit from consuming oily fish regularly.

This is what was reached by the most recent meeting of the European Prevention Society 2012, which is currently being held in Dublin - Ireland, and it is an association registered in the European Cardiology Group.

Omega-3, one of the components of fish oils, was found to have an important role in protecting people from heart disease, and the association’s discussion centered on whether it was necessary to eat fish or be satisfied with omega tablets.

Speakers in the association expressed their concerns that omega-3 tablets do not contain the appropriate amount of dose, in addition to the fact that fish contains other types of oils that are no less important than omega-3.

And Philip Calder, a biochemist from the University of Southampton, said that whether for heart disease, brain disease or even the immune system of the human body, it is the duty of doctors to educate their patients about the benefits of omega-3 and eating fish in general.

And the first time that the role of omega-3 was discovered in reducing heart disease was in 1970 when two researchers from Denmark (Bang and Derberg) discovered a higher rate of angina pectoris in Denmark than on the island of Greenland of Denmark, where they found that the inhabitants of this island eat fish and whales in abundance.  It is their main source of food, unlike Denmark.

The meeting presented its recommendations to the public that it is necessary to eat fish at least twice a week to maintain a healthy heart.
